Dr Gunasiri Mallikarachchi is a specialist consultant physician in General Medicine. He practices as a general physician in Sunnybank Private Hospital in Brisbane’s southside.

Dr Mallikarachchi obtained his primary medical qualifications from the University of Colombo in Sri Lanka in 1992. He subsequently completed physician training and became a board certified specialist physician in General Medicine in Sri Lanka. As a part of overseas training, he worked in New Zealand and later on migrated to Australia in 2008.

Then he obtained the Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians to become a specialist in General Medicine in Australia. He completed his tertiary training at the Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.

He has many years of experience in General Medicine. He has a particular interest in complex medical problems involving multiple systems in keeping with principles of General Medicine. He is also interested in perioperative medicine, obstetric medicine and rehabilitation

Dr Mallikarachchi is based mainly at Sunnybank Private Hospital. He also provides his services in Wesley Hospital and Belmont Private Hospital.

Furthermore, he has worked in Mount Isa, Gympie, Logan and Ipswich hospitals as a physician. As a result, he has obtained an extensive amount of experience in broader General Medicine.

He is interested in teaching and participates in regular clinical coaching of University of Queensland medical students. He is also interested in perioperative medicine, obstetric medicine and rehabilitation.
